About Dr. Brown’s Book:
“Growing Up; you spend the first 18 years of you life growing up and the rest of your life getting over it.” [COMING Spring 2015]
This book explores the developmental tasks that each of us move through in the process of becoming a human and our subsequent launch into adulthood. Its about the difficulties that we each face in our growing up years and then the positive and negative impacts that our formative experiences have on our life as an adult: parenting, romance, social, and work domains. It looks at the developmental tasks of 0-18 and then the process we can go through of re-parenting ourselves and the process of creating the life and relationships we want and need.
About Dr. Brown:
Christopher J. Brown, PhD, LPC-S is a psychotherapist, author, and trainer and has worked with children and families for 19 years. He has a Doctorate in Counseling from the University of North Texas and holds a Masters of Science degree in Educational Psychology from Baylor University. He currently practices in Austin, Texas where he works with children and families as a therapist, parent coordinator / facilitator, forensic expert, and a trainer with the Nurturing Parenting Program. He has worked as a tenure track professor for 4 years, 8 years as an adjunct professor, 6 years in the public school setting as a Coordinator of Mental Health Services, and currently in full time private practice for 4 years.He has published articles in peer reviewed journals, has presented nationally and internationally in the areas of counseling, families, and adjustment issues related to divorce. He has been recognized as an engaging and academically outstanding presenter. He is currently writing a book, “Growing Up; you spend the first 18 years of your life growing up and the rest of your life understanding it” which explores the developmental tasks across the life span and the important tasks to increase mental health functioning in each stage of life; the book is set to publish in early 2015. He lives in Austin Texas with his wife and three children and enjoys an active life style.
